Wanted to share some information regarding unauthorized solicitors and unknown cars driving through our village at the condos:
We had unauthorized solicitors going door-to-door at our condos this afternoon. The solicitor who rang my doorbell tried to pass off a gift to me (a small bottle of liquid Dial soap). He was a dark curly-haired teenage kid who said his name was Deshaun.
When I asked what he wanted, he tried to explain to me that he works for a service that cleans homes. He tried to set up an appointment with me, and a representative would come to my house and clean an item of my choice for no charge. The goal was for them to demonstrate the cleaning product, hoping that I would then buy it.
When I asked for a business card, he couldn't produce one. Same for a phone number. I then asked for a website for the company, and he said the company he represents is connected with Kirby, a company in Green Bay. He said I could look them up. He then told me he thought I looked busy and excused himself. As I watched him walk away, I noticed he had an accomplice —a blonde woman who appeared to be in her 20s. She was knocking on the door of Unit 44.
Over the last two to three weeks, my neighbors and I have noticed several vehicles driving through our property. One vehicle was a small, inexpensive, lime-green subcompact with dark-tinted windows and no license plates. The windows were so dark that one could not see their occupants. Others and I are getting the feeling they were "casing" the place. And now this.
So, I got in my truck and drove around the village, noticing an old blue-windowed van parked on Charlevoix Street, with a Wisconsin license plate reading AFX 1300. A male and two females got out of the truck, and each headed to a different home on Charlevoix Street. I waited for the male to return to the van so I could speak with him. He confirmed his group was with Yanda's Distributing, LLC., of Green Bay, WI.
He didn't have a business card, but I went ahead and provided me with a free drawing ticket, which is attached to this email. Also, Greg Simonsen stopped by my place. His Ring doorbell captured a photo of DeShaun, which is also connected to this email.
In light of this, I, for one, will be more careful when leaving our garage open and doors unlocked. I suggest you do too.
